GC Japan received a 2009 National Energy Globe Award for their Environmental Diary Programme and was one of three nominees for the 2009 Energy Globe World Award in the Youth category. Since 1999, GC Japan has been promoting the Environmental Diary for elementary school children as a tool for environmental education. The Diary combines instructive texts with the keeping of a diary for three months.
